Beauty and Massage in London

Beauty and Massage in London

There are many health benefits associated with massage treatments. A soothing massage can help you to unwind, it can help with muscle injury caused by sport, and when combined with traditional medical treatments it can promote healing in people afflicted by certain ailments. A less common benefit, though certainly a very important one, of massage is its ability to help treat jetlag. Body Tissue Service (BTS) will bring the benefits of massage to you at your hotel, office or home; whether you are in Knightsbridge, Kensington, Chelsea, or another part of London.

Jetlag is caused by a disruption to your internal ‘body clock’, a small cluster of cells in your brain that controls your circadian rhythms, or the timing of particular biological functions, such as the time for sleep and the time for waking up and the times at which you eat. Your internal clock is attuned to your regular pattern of sleep and wakefulness, and its synchronicity is disrupted by experiencing light and darkness at the ‘wrong’ times. The suggested recovery time for jetlag is given as 1 day per time zone, so if you have flown across the Atlantic Ocean from New York to London it could then take you up to 7 days to recover from the effects of jetlag as you will have crossed 7 time zones. In our fast-paced lives we very seldom have the time to spend waiting for the symptoms of jetlag to wane.

Some of the symptoms of jetlag include:

  • Fatigue

Feeling worn out and tired for days after arriving at your destination, accompanied by a lack of ability to concentrate and a lack of motivation, especially for tasks that require effort or skill (such as discussing a business deal, driving, or even having the capacity to fully enjoy a holiday)

  • Broken sleep after arrival

Because you have crossed time zones the circadian rhythm of feeling sleepy at a particular time and of being awake at a particular time is interrupted. This leads to the brain not wanting to shut off properly to allow you to sleep when it is indeed night time at your destination. This could negatively affect your performance at your business meeting or presentation

  • Disorientation or haziness

Feeling confused about things you have done or should have done such as locking the door when you left your home or the door of your hotel room, and having to go back to check, sometimes more than once

  • Becoming irrational or unreasonable

The effects of jetlag might leave you feeling upset by the smallest thing, such as having to wait for your luggage after the flight, or getting frustrated at a delay through customs and immigration

Whether you have arrived in London for business or for a holiday, or you are home after being away, then massage therapy is an excellent means of helping you overcome your symptoms of jetlag by helping you to relax. You will thus be able to fall asleep easily and stay asleep so that your sleep is uninterrupted and therefore of better quality. This will leave you feeling refreshed so that you can be at your best when you meet with colleagues, when you visit the tourist hotspots of London, or when you need to get back to your daily patterns of life.
